The Position

D.C. United Summer Camps is five days of fun, soccer instruction, and competition within our custom-built curriculum for all children ages 5-13. We are looking for an After Care Lead Coach who attacks each day with enthusiasm for the sport and the opportunity to inspire youth players, unlocking their personal best. This coach possesses the ability to communicate and connect with a variety of ages, interests, and skill levels while approaching each day’s unique challenges with energy, and patience. We provide the training, soccer curriculum & daily camp schedules along with all equipment for a successful camp day but need you to bring camp to life with your enthusiasm, dedication and un-matched energy.


What You'll Do

  • Assist on-site leadership in mentoring and leading coaches through proper implementation of pre-written soccer curriculum and game play, fostering a respectful and positive atmosphere, where campers are constantly engaged and learning throughout the day with high energy, integrity and passion.
  • Ensure physical, social, and emotional safety of all campers by consistently implementing all camp protocols, forming connections and fostering a supportive team environment for all campers on site.
  • During aftercare (3:00 – 6:00 pm):
    • Be the family-facing onsite leader during our Afternoon (PM) Extended Day Programming for a group of 10 - 20 campers.
    • Implement camper safety and check-out procedures
    • Lead campers through engaging, fun and safe activities to ensure campers enjoy their after- camp experience.  
  • Represent the D.C. United professionally and respectfully throughout all facets of your day to campers, parents, site and facility partners and any guests you encounter while on the clock and in uniform.
  • Be a loyal, dedicated and responsible team member who consistently shows up on time and ready to work for the campers and the rest of your team.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by camp leadership.


About You

  • Experience playing and/or coaching soccer (2 years at a competitive level – club, high school, college and beyond - viewed favorably).
  • Experience working with children in a camp, school or sport setting (2 years preferred).
  • Passionate about soccer and making a positive impact in the lives of children and families.
  • Possess or able to obtain valid CPR/First Aid Certification prior to the start of camp.
  • Committed to the camp mission, top notch program quality, the rest of your team, and our campers and their families for the full duration of the summer camp season.
  • Diligent, reliable and willing to learn.
  • Able to remain upright and standing for multiple hours at a time, to walk and/or run quickly around large outdoor grass and dirt-covered fields, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of sports equipment.
  • Committed to adhering to the D.C. United Camp Cell-Phone Free policy, powering down and putting away cell phones for the duration of your shift.

Additional Camp Information

  • Camp Dates & Locations: June 9th – August 8th
    • Camps may take place in Washington D.C. and/or Virginia

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00 am-6:00 pm
  • Compensation: $18 / hour
